Before You Install Windows 95

By Stuart Ariewitz

The Norton Utilities for Windows 95 has all of the features of the Win 3.1 version - plus some. Before you install MS Windows 95, you might want to consider running the Norton Utilities Windows Pre-Installation Tune-up. These utilities will free up disk space, defragment your disk and enable you to remove duplicate files, freeing up valuable space. While it's true that you can defragment your hard disk once you have Windows 95, it's a lot easier to install Windows 95 over a clean and fully-functional file system. If your file system is "broken", your Windows 95 installation can fail. This could force you to spend hours getting back up and running. Fortunately, the Norton Utilities also includes a set of utilities to help you if this happens.

If you already use the Norton Utilities under Windows, you'll find the familiar Disk Doctor which examines any diskette or disk, diagnoses problems, and fixes them. The System Doctor is a utility that monitors your system's resources in the background - more than 70 different parameters - running in low priority and taking full advantage of Windows 95's multi-tasking.

With Norton Utilities you can run a faster system and eliminate wasted disk space and disk errors on an on-going basis. If you are upgrading to Windows 95, The Norton Utilities should be the first program you buy.
